How To

When winter comes, I can only think of one thing: going skiing. Learning to ski as a child made me passionate about this sport and makes me feel free and in touch with nature.

Have you ever skied? If so, you’ll understand how I feel. If not, learning to ski is something I recommend because I know you’ll like it as much as I do. And what better excuse than a snow vacation? In this post, you will learn the practical ski tips for beginners that will make you want to pack and learn to ski now!

Tips for skiing for the first time

  1. Don’t forget to check the status of the ski slopes

It is essential that before climbing the ski slopes, you consult the part of snow in Spain. Hotels usually have it every morning very soon, but if you want, you can ask it on this website. In that part of the snow, you will know the weather, the forecast for the full day and, the ski slopes open.

In your case, as you are learning to ski, you will have to look at the green slopes, which are beginners. And always keep in mind where you’ve come from to get an idea of how to get back before the tracks close in the afternoon.

  1. Adjusting boots is essential to learn how to ski

Putting your boots on to hold your foot and ankle tightly to prevent possible injuries is critical.

If you rent the equipment, before you go skiing, try your boots on and see if they’re too big for you. If so, better change the size by a less, as we do not want you to dance on foot within the boot.

  1. Canes are more important than you think.

Always uses poles for balance. But they’re not only good for that, but the duty’s also very important if you fall.

If it happens to you (which I assure you will happen), don’t be afraid; just take off the skis (if they haven’t jumped alone) and put them perpendicular to the slope, never down, lean on the Canes and put them back on.

  1. Don’t forget the body position.

A relaxed position with legs bent. About the tips without touching to make a wedge and presses the edges of the inner part of the skis to the time that you separate the heels to control speed.

I don’t want to scare you, but in the first few days, you’ll get a lot of shoelaces because you’re exercising your muscles like you never did before. But don’t let this discourage you if you get up without being able to move. When you get used to it, you’ll enjoy it to the fullest!

  1. Learn to ski: ski lessons are very useful

They are not essential, but they certainly serve a lot at first when you are learning to ski. The basics and the technique are essential to be able to ski well and, some classes always come well so that you can then continue on your own. In them, you will know step by step the techniques of skiing for beginners

Enter the Spanish Ski School of the ski resorts and check the schedules and prices. Here are some of the best known:

  1. Safety first

Skiing is a unique sport. It gives you the freedom and makes you feel like you can handle everything when you slide through the snow. But don’t forget it’s a risky sport, and as such, you have to take into account some safety rules.

Always wear a helmet, keep a safe distance with the rest of the skiers, do not leave the marked slopes, and whenever you have any questions, ask the monitors or the people in charge of the lifts.

  1. Relax and enjoy

Skiing gets tired. It’s an exhausting but gratifying sport. For me, the most rewarding of all.

During the day sailing down the slopes, learning new techniques, and with the adrenaline to stop. So you can imagine what you’ll be like when you take off your skis and boots and feel a little bit.

That’s why I recommend you stand in front of the fireplace in the hotel or apartment and take a warm drink to regain strength and relax. The feeling is indescribable! One of the ski resorts I like Best is Pas de la Casa. I have gone many times, and it brings me perfect memories, plus it’s a pass.

  1. Take advantage of ski offers and discounts

When it comes to learning to ski, you can’t forget the accommodation and the forfeit (which is the pass for skiing in a ski resort).

The good news is that many ski offers include hotel + forfeit or special prices for hotels in the snow. Also, the price of a forfeit is usually lower if you are going to learn how to ski, as you will only be on the green slopes. Don’t forget to ask at the ski resort before paying the forfeit.
